President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have rejected findings from U.S. intelligence agencies that Iran has halted a clandestine effort to build a nuclear bomb and “do not want to leave Iran in place with a nuclear program,” Hersh said.

News: Reports over the weekend state that Congress has allowed $400 million for covert operations in Iran. The article found on CNN, and also the New Yorker state that the White House is working on the war with Iran. These comments are coming from a well known journalist Seymour Hersh. He also stated that “Bush and Cheney did not want to leave Iran in place with a nuclear program”. He says that Afghanistan is the staging ground for the covert operations. The U.S. Ambassador in Iraq stated, “I can tell you flatly that U.S. forces are not operating across the Iraqi border into Iran”. Hersh has said that his information comes from military intelligence sources and Congressional sources.

Observation:He is just a journalist, and journalist like the spotlight so some consideration has to be taken for this. However, to think that our forces are not setting foot on Iranian soil might also be quite nieve. Hopes are that this journalist is wrong and there is no plans to attack Iran before Bush and Cheney leave. It is also thought that Bush and Cheney will have a difficult time selling the “Iran has weapons of mass destruction” like they did in Iraq. If Congree agrees to let him attack, there has to be an understanding that they must know something we don’t.

Discussion: Do you think the article is a spotlight article or based off of truth?
