Arlen’s Switch and the Hidden Problem

Posted by Nicholas on April 30th, 2009

I was reading Arlen Spector’s statement on switching parties (I pulled it from the Politico) and I cam across this statement

I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate

Think about that for a moment.  He represents the people of Pennsylvania.  In Pennsylvania the system says he identifies his party and goes before them for their approval.  Now that he doesn’t have their approval he is unwilling to be judged by the people, pretty convenient.  It also shows a bit of arrogance that comes from, I think, being in power a little too long.

Hillary Clinton Siezing Pirate Assets

Posted by Nicholas on April 15th, 2009

From the Telegraph

Hillary Clinton unveiled a plan on Wednesday to fight piracy, calling for prosecution and freezing pirates’ assets with the support of Washington’s international partners.

I really thought this was a joke when I first read it.  People are siezing ships, ransoming them, shooting rockets at others,  and we’re going to sieze their assets as if they were common criminals.  I really must have forgotten that part of history class where Jefferson directed his Marines to arrest the Barbary Pirates and bring them to court.

Tired of Welfare!

Posted by Richard on April 13th, 2009

Personal story of my trip to Wal-Mart the other day. I stood in line and watched people on welfare purchase their groceries and was amazed to see the actual numbers. While in line I saw 3 people use the little American Flag “Credit card” that is the new welfare card. I only got to see one of the ladies total and what she had to pay, but it was amazing. Here are the stats;

Total Buggies of Goods: 3

Goods in buggy: Steaks, all name brand goods, Tide, Barrons Pizza, etc.

Total $ amount of goods: $494

Total lady had to pay out of her pocket: $131

She paid 26% of the total amount of her goods in her buggy and is eating better than I do. I buy almost all non-name brand goods and spend roughly $400.00 per month on food and other groceries. This is not right. We work hard and have to scrape to get by and these people get ridiculous help. This is another thing wrong with this country. Now they want to take more of the money from hard working people and give it to these types of people. BS, is all I have to say.

Did I mention she also bought clothes, purses, etc!

Thank you uncle SAM!

Green = Green Jobs?

Posted by Nicholas on April 13th, 2009

The government has been telling us that ‘investing in green will create jobs’.  If that were true, it would make sense to see who else was trying to make this work and see how they had made it work.  Makes sense to me, and luckily the people of Spain have tried it for us.

Every “green job” created with government money in Spain over the last eight years came at the cost of 2.2 regular jobs, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job, says a new study released this month. The study draws parallels with the green jobs programs of the Obama administration.

Now we have evidence that creating green jobs with government money will result in destroying jobs.  Why should we do this again?

Still think your money is safe?

Posted by Richard on March 4th, 2009

If everyone thinks that their money is completely safe in the banks, you need to read this news article on Bloomberg. It talks about the FDIC fund that is meant to protect your money in the banks. It quotes the head of the FDIC who states that the fund may be insolvent if banks continue to fail. Many banks have already failed and continue to fail.
