My Thoughts!

Posted by Richard on August 19th, 2009

These are my thoughts. I am not a community organizer, a republican hack, or anyone out for my own agenda. I am not a manufactured angry person, and I do have real concerns about the future of this country and the alarming changes that are taking place. Anything else said about my motivation is a lie.

Full disclosure;I am registered as a republican. However I have voted democrat and do vote for the people that I think present the most honest values and principles. Unfortunately, it seems as though most politicians are nothing more than liers and cheats. I am shedding the republican tag though. I consider myself a common sense American.

The country is not democrat and republican only. There are a lot of different parties that are more in line with these beliefs. Our government will have you believe that they are the only options. This needs to change. If it does not, exactly what is happening now, will continue. Every time the other party gets in office, they will push through their so called agenda. I am tired of this. It does not focus on the true needs and wants of the American people. Government officials are not smarter than the American people. Government officials do work for us, no matter what they say.

Conservatives are not just Republicans. I have met Libertarians, Independents, Constitutionalists and even Democrats who are conservative. Conservative people are not the types to “take to the streets”. But we are doing it. This should make people think about why a more conservative person would take time out of their busy schedule to do something that is completely out of their norm. Personally I can tell that I have never been to a protest of any type until this year. I am standing up now because of stupid politicians in Washington and around the country who are doing nothing more than a glorified pissing contest. Their are holding their ground on their “party ideals” and that is it. The problem is that they are not paying attention to their history.

If you look at our history, government oppression is the reason this country came to be. When King George was taxing the colonials to the point of them having almost nothing to grow, invest, and save with, changes had to be made. My fear, is that the power that people get so addicted to, can infuriate people on both sides of the current arguments to push them to extremes. Frustrations commonly build up with people on the left side as well. None are immune to extremists. Just look at some of the people in our history like Mr. Ayers. Yes, there are extremists on the right also, who feel that the future of our country could come to an armed struggle. I will not say that all these people are nut jobs because they see the extreme possibilities. Which are exactly that, possibilities. Some of those people are nut jobs, but not all. Most will not admit it, but have wondered if this could actually be a real possibility. It has happened countless times, in countless countries over centuries. This is not a bad thing. To think that someone won’t do something stupid on either side of an argument is naive. However, this does  mean that the arguments made by people on the same side of an issue are all like this. There has to be a realization that people are different and have their own thoughts and there are also always going to be nut jobs that do stupid things.

People need to start looking at things from a realistic perspective and stop the “Status quo” argument. I do not want the same system that is obviously broken to stay in place. However, using health care as an example, I like mine and want to keep it. I should be able to. Fix what is broken. I do agree with Glenn Beck that Common Sense needs to return to Washington and all politicians. They need to become individuals who listen to their constituents again. I am tired of always seeing a Democrat and a Republican arguing on tv. All people need to be represented.

I am a concerned American who happens to be conservative. I am also open to debate in an appropriate manner. If you have comments, leave them, but do not belittle me. Have an open discussion.

(Update)Cap and trade vote comes Friday!

Posted by Richard on June 23rd, 2009

This was just passed by the house 219-212. The original bill was 1090 pages. They added another 300+ pages late lastnight that noone really knows what is in them. The additional pages became available this morning at 3:09am. No one read this legislation! Now it is on the way to becoming law of the land. This is not representation period. We need a completely new government. No more Democrats or Republicans. They do not represent Americans. This country is going to come apart at the seams if this does not stop. Updated article at (Politico)

It appears that Democrats in Washington have finished their all day discussions about Climate Control. It appears that Business, then consumers are going to pay the price for this program. (Wall Street Journal)

Paid Not to Teach

Posted by Nicholas on May 15th, 2009

I’ve posted about the school system in LA before, but this caught my attention

In the jargon of the school district, Kim is being “housed” while his fitness to teach is under review. A special education teacher, he was removed from Grant High School in Van Nuys and assigned to a district office in 2002 after the school board voted to fire him for allegedly harassing teenage students and colleagues. In the meantime, the district has spent more than $2 million on him in salary and legal costs.

Last week, Kim was ordered to continue this daily routine at home. District officials said the offices for “housed” employees were becoming too crowded.

About 160 teachers and other staff sit idly in buildings scattered around the sprawling district, waiting for allegations of misconduct to be resolved.

Why do they sit idly by you ask?

Although there is no specific reference in the contract to housed employees, an attorney for L.A. Unified pointed to Article 9, Section 4.0, which defines the “professional duties” of a teacher, such as instructional planning and evaluating the work of pupils.

With no mention of photocopying, stuffing envelopes or answering telephones in the contract, the district and union have interpreted this provision as prohibiting clerical duties.
“Why would we denigrate [teachers] by forcing them to do something they’re not supposed to do?” said A. J. Duffy, who is now president of UTLA, adding that housed teachers are entitled to a presumption of innocence.

Umm, how about because they are supposed to be teaching and it was their conduct that took them out of the classroom? In the case of the teacher highlighted in the article he had 4 sexual harrassment complaints (at least two from students) over the course of two years. All said this school system is paying160 teachers $10 million a year not to teach.

Al Gore and 1984

Posted by Nicholas on May 13th, 2009

I was purusing Michelle Malkin’s blog this morning and came across this video

The 2 most important points, I thought, were that there has been a shift in terminology by the people pushing this idea from ‘Global Warming’ to ‘Climate Change’ and the fact that there has not been any global warming in a decade.

It takes a cheat……to catch one I guess!

Posted by Richard on May 4th, 2009

Tim Geithner is going to catch the “tax cheats”. Isn’t that kind of like putting the fox in charge of protecting the hen house? Tim Geithner is one of the ones that was using the “loopholes” to keep more of his “hard earned” money. (more…)
