Update - 06/02/08 Launch is good!

The launch went off with out a hitch and now the Space shuttle Discovery is on it’s way to rondeveau with the Space Station. While there the new section of the lab will be installed as well as repair of the toilet on the space station. There are concerns about chunks of ice that came falling down during the launch and hit the Orbiter. They will get a chance to take a look at any damage that might have occured.

The Mars Lander is also getting great success today. It has been reaching it’s so called arms to touch the surface of Mars and begins to give NASA data about possible water ice that possibly once was on Mars. Continued good work by NASA.

05/31/08 - Launch Day for Shuttle Discovery

5:02 pm today is the scheduled launch for the Space Shuttle Discovery on it’s 14 day mission to delivery a second section of the Kibo Japanese lab to the Space Station. As a last minute addition to the mission, room had to be made for replacement parts for non other than the toilet. Yes the space station toilet is broken and it seems as though there is no Ace Hardware, Lowes, or Home Depot in out space. Might be food for thought for those hardware retailers. Good luck Astronauts and come home safe and sound!

05/28/08 - BEIJING 2008Beijing XXIX Olympics
Games of the XXIX Olympiad
From the 8th August to 24th August 2008

72 days until the XXIX Beijing Olympics. I have been a fan of watching the Olympics. I love to see how many of each medal we get. It is always nice to see how we compare to other countries. Knowing it is really not important if we win the most medals, it is more of a pride thing I guess. MSNBC has got a great Olympics page that includes medal count, athlete bios, news, pretty much everything. Returning athlete Matt Phelps will try to maintain his dominance in the pool where he won 5 gold medals and 2 bronze, a total of 7 medals. Good Luck US Olympic Team!!

Industrial Gases05/27/08 - G8 Green house gases down for year 2006

The G8 countries all lowered their greenhouse gas emissions with the exception of Russia. This is good news for the over all health of our planet. If we can manage to take care of our people in the fashion at which we are accustomed and lower green house gases, that is a great thing. Reduction in health problems, heatwaves and extreme weather conditions will hopefully be better off because of this.
